East Carolina breaks it open with seven runs in the eighth and advances to meet Virginia Saturday.
It only took seven innings, but once the East Carolina bats woke up, they never looked back en route to a 9-1 win over the Bryant Bulldogs. The win propels the Pirates into the winners bracket where they will face the home team Cavaliers on Saturday at 6 P.M.
While it took East Carolina a few innings to get going, the same cannot be said for Bryant. The Bulldogs offense which came into the game as one of the best in the country never was able to get started.
