Bronco Mendenhall’s staff made more money per win than any other FBS school

Virginia Cavaliers’ head coach Bronco Mendenhall won two games in his first season in Charlottesville. According to USA Today, Mendenhall and his on-field assistants and head strength coach are making a combined $6,455,000 per year, which means that Virginia paid $3.2 million per victory this season.

According to the USA Today report, that ranks as the highest cost per win of any Football Bowl Subdivision team.

Following Virginia is Michigan State, which had three wins costing an average of $2.7 million, and Fresno State, which had just one win this season at $2.6 million.

Of course, it was a big rebuilding year for the depleted Cavaliers, who hope to find marked improvement in Year Two of the Mendenhall era.
