CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Greyson Lambert and Matt Johns each throw a touchdown pass and the Blue beat Orange 14-13 in Virginia’s spring game Saturday.
The quarterbacks are still dueling for the starting job, and there was little separation. Lambert hit transfer wide receiver T.J. Thorpe with a 12-yard pass on the opening drive and Johns hit tight end Brendan Marshall from 27 yards.
Thorpe, who caught a winning touchdown pass at Scott Stadium for North Carolina last season, then transferred after the year, made the biggest splash. He ran 47 yards with a jet sweep on the second play of the game, caught a 20-yard pass from Lambert and then the touchdown pass.
