On the same day that DeAndre Hunter and Ty Jerome announced their intentions to leave for the NBA next season, Tony Bennett and the Virginia Basketball team received word from a new face coming to grounds next year. 2019 small forward Justin McKoy, from Cary, North Carolina, announced his commitment on social media:
While McKoy is just a three star recruit in most rankings, major programs came calling after his breakout senior year (and subsequent de-commitment from Penn State). Local blueblood North Carolina offered a scholarship recently, so McKoy’s commitment is a minor surprise to those used to seeing UVa lose the South’s Oldest Recruiting Battle over the years (NC State had offered McKoy as well).
