If there is one place in the Cavalier lineup there are no questions entering the 2017 season it is on the right side of the infield. The Hoos might have the strongest right side in the country with Pavin Smith and Ernie Clement. The left side will feature some new faces and a mix of old and new behind the plate.
First Base
Pavin Smith will enter his third year in a Cavalier uniform regarded not only as one of the top first basemen in the ACC, but also the country. Smith batted .329 with 8 HRs and 57 RBI last season, and although he won’t have first rd pick Thaiss in the lineup this year, Smith could see his power numbers improve.
