Villanova’s Jalen Brunson named AP first team All-American, Mikal Bridges on the third team

The honors for Jalen Brunson continue to roll in. On Tuesday, the Villanova point guard was named to the Associated Press’s 1st Team All-America.

Brunson, who was named the East Region’s Most Outstanding Player last weekend, is averaging 19.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game this season. He is joined on the first team by three freshmen, Trae Young from Oklahoma, DeAndre Ayton from Arizona, and Duke’s Marvin Bagley III as well as Kansas’s Devonte’ Graham.

The Illinois native becomes the 11th Wildcat to earn first team All-America Honors. He joins Josh Hart (2017), Scottie Reynolds (2010), Randy Foye (2006), Kerry Kittles (1996), Hank Siemiontkowski (1972), Howard Porter (1969-1971), Bill Melchionni (1966), Wali Jones (1964), Hubie White (1962) and Paul Arizin (1950).
