Fate has not been especially kind to the new-look realigned Big East. In its first two seasons as a post-football conference, the league has combined rather lifeless regular seasons (Villanova has won back-to-back Big East crowns by at least two games) with rather lifeless postseason showings (the league is just 7-10 over the last two NCAA tournaments).
Don't be surprised if all of the above changes in 2015-16. This should be a fantastic conference race, with Xavier, Providence, Butler and Villanova all currently ranked in the top 20 nationally. Moreover the top of the league rates out as the strongest group the Big East has had since making the transition to a 10-team conference.
