Matt Szczur will be honored by his home town in New Jersey on Saturday, when Lower Township officially celebrates Matt Szczur Day. The former Villanova football and baseball phenom is in the process of buying a house in Lower Township, that he will apparently use primarily in his off-season from his current career in Major League Baseball with the Chicago Cubs.
In addition to his outstanding two-sport career in college and his professional sports career, Szczur has endeared himself to fans far and wide for his selflessness. In 2009, he was the most high-profile Villanova athlete to donate bone marrow as part of Coach Andy Talley's annual drive.
