Happy Tuesday, 'Nova Nation! Some breaking news yesterday, wherein the NCAA is now looking to give more NCAA Tournament Committee seats to the Power 5 schools. As you know or have likely surmised, that commitee is the group that determines the bracket and seeding. There was an outcry this year when several low-major and mid-major schools were left out in favor of Power 5 schools with questionable resumes, and so giving the Power 5 more decision-making authority is naturally causing the mid-major institutions some angst.
There's some stuff in there about revenue-distribution as it relates to academic success, and I can see the argument that it helps the Power 5 too, but I don't think that's a concern for Villanova, who has a strong history of academic success with its athletic programs.
