Villanova will take the hour-long drive up I-476 this weekend to take on the Lehigh in the season-opener for both programs. The all-FCS matchup is a big change for the ‘Cats, as they have typically opened with a buy-game against an FBS opponent in recent years.
Lehigh doesn’t hold the promise of an easier matchup, however. The Mountain Hawks are ranked #17 in the preseason poll and are returning one of the best offenses in the country. That matchups up nicely with Villanova’s top-ranked defense from a year ago, and the Wildcats will be hoping they can open the 2017 season on the right foot.
