Grand-opening surprise

The surprise was meant to be for 4-year-old Blaise.

Turns out his parents, Andrew and Annie Davis, were equally stunned.

Blaise, who lives in suburban Philadelphia, was given a diagnosis in February of Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare bone cancer. He’s already endured grueling rounds of chemotherapy and in May will have surgery that will require a good six- to nine-month recovery time, so his parents turned to Tim Moore, a family friend and contractor, to convert their basement into a playroom for Blaise and his little sister, Lucy.
