The Villanova Wildcats defeated the Xavier Musketeers 71-67 in an electric Big East Semi-Final game from Madison Square Garden on Friday night.
Villanova looked to be clicking at tip, building a 5 point lead early in the game. However, sloppy play fueled a Muskies run about midway through the first half. Paul Scruggs was a menace for the ‘Cats in the first half, going 7-7 from the floor with 15 points. Villanova had no answer for the star guard as he got to the rim at will over and over again. Xavier scored 22 points in the paint in the first half.
