VANCOUVER, British Columbia — The Golden Knights created more team history Sunday as the NHL expansion franchise won its first preseason game, defeating the Vancouver Canucks 9-4 at Rogers Arena.
Playing another team after just two days of training camp, the Knights (1-0) were led by a hat trick and assist from Tyler Wong.
Wong scored on the team’s first shot, a power play goal at 4:58 of the first period. His second goal came with 2 1/2 minutes remaining in the first period as the Knights went ahead 4-2 after Vancouver had tied the game at 1-1 and 2-2.
