Golden Knights general manager George McPhee spoke Thursday and while he couldn’t address the specifics of Nate Schmidt’s 20-game suspension he did make one thing clear: The banned substance for which Schmidt tested positive did not come from the team.
“The organization isn’t responsible for it. It didn’t come from us,” McPhee said. “Some maybe say the onus is on him, but I’ll tell you about this process, all of you could go for a protein shake at the health food store around here or some place and be positive tomorrow.”
McPhee also reaffirmed that the team is backing Schmidt during the suspension.
