Phillip Di Giuseppe’s goal in the fourth round gave the Carolina Hurricanes a 3-2 shootout victory over the Golden Knights Tuesday at T-Mobile Arena.
The Knights, who saw their four-game win streak end, had a 1-0 lead in the shootout as Reilly Smith beat Cam Ward in the third round. But Brock McGinn kept the Hurricanes alive and after Erik Haula and Jonathan Marchessault missed, Di Giuseppe scored off Marc-Andre Fleury to snap the Hurricanes’ four-game losing streak.
The Knights, who began a five-game homestand, welcomed back their starting goaltender as the 33-year-old Fleury returned to action after missing 25 games following a concussion suffered back on Oct.
