Forward Jonathan Marchessault signed a six-year, $30 million extension with the Golden Knights, the team announced Tuesday.
Marchessault, 27, was set to become an unrestricted free agent after the season. He leads the first-place Knights in scoring with 37 points and shares the team lead in assists with forward David Perron with 22.
Marchessault was in the final year of a two-year deal that paid him an annual average salary of $750,000.
Marchessault’s extension through 2023-24 carries a salary cap hit of $5 million per season.
The Knights selected Marchessault in the expansion draft from the Florida Panthers after he posted 30 goals and 21 assists last season.
