With Alabama looming, Vandy coach Derek Mason says his team ‘doesn’t fear anybody’

Vanderbilt hasn’t beaten Alabama in 21 tries since 1984, but don’t think for a minute that Commodores coach Derek Mason feels intimidated.

Mason said he remains optimistic about the undefeated Commodores’ prospects going into Saturday’s matchup with the top-ranked Crimson Tide, part of a radio interview on “The Wake Up Zone” on 104.5 The Zone in Nashville.

“Do we have challenges? Yes,” Mason said. “But this team doesn’t fear anybody.”

Part of that confidence comes from Vanderbilt’s victory last Saturday, when they knocked off then-No. 18 Kansas State 14-7. Mason said Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts shares many of the same attributes of Kansas State quarterback Jesse Ertz.
