One thing that has been talked about ad nauseum in the SEC is that all three new head coaches in the league were SEC defensive coordinators this season. It also means that five of the seven coaches in the SEC East — all but Butch Jones at Tennessee and Jim McElwain at Florida — were defensive coordinators at Power Five schools in their preceding job.
