For Vanderbilt fans who might have viewed last week’s close loss to Florida as a moral victory, Commodores coach Derek Mason has a response: There’s no such thing.
“This group is playing to win. We’re not satisfied with moral victories,” Mason said. “There are no moral victories in football.”
Mason looked back at the missed opportunities after Saturday’s near-miss 13-6 loss against the Gators in Nashville.
The Commodores rode the effort of tailback Ralph Webb – who had 110 yards – in the loss, but never reached the end zone as drive after drive bogged down in Gators territory.
