With Vanderbilt running back Ralph Webb’s effectiveness for Saturday’s game at Georgia unknown because of an ankle injury suffered last week at Kentucky, the best hope for a Commodores victory this week could lie on the shoulders of a quarterback — and not their own.
Vanderbilt ranks 13th in the SEC and 120th nationally in scoring at just 19 points per game, so the Commodores need to keep the game low-scoring. That’s especially true with Webb’s ailing ankle; he accounts for almost 42 percent of their total offense (746 of their 1,797 total yards).
Step one for Vanderbilt (2-4 overall, 0-3 in the SEC) to have any chances of winning in Athens: They have to hope that Georgia true freshman quarterback Jacob Eason plays like a true freshman.
