Vanderbilt turtles up, wastes opportunities in 13-6 loss to No. 23 Florida

Vanderbilt had several chances to reverse its fortunes against a Florida team that has owned the rivalry between the two SEC programs. The Commodores wasted almost all of them.

The Commodores’ timidity and inability to find the end zone proved fatal on Saturday, as the Gators escaped Nashville with a 13-6 win that will impress no one. While Ralph Webb and this team’s defense came to play, its offensive deficiencies proved too much to overcome.

Webb finished the game with 110 rushing yards on 24 carries. That effort was enough to move him into second place all-time in the program’s record book.
