When Vanderbilt takes the field Saturday against Kentucky, the Commodores will be offering a special tribute to soldiers who gave their lives in service.
Each Commodores player will be wearing the names of fallen soldiers on their jerseys in a “Salute to Service” for Veterans Day, the athletic department announced.
In addition to the name of a soldier, players also will wear the military branch patch of the soldier on the front of the jersey.
An example: When Oren Burks makes a tackle Saturday against the Wildcats, he’ll be wearing a jersey with the name of Spc.
