The Vanderbilt football team opened fall camp in a special fashion: arm-in-arm with campus police officers. Junior linebacker Oren Burks, a member of the Commodores’ leadership council, helped organize the event.
“There has been a lot of talk in the locker room about what we wanted to do and I felt like this was something we could do to honor them,” Burks said. “They lay their life on the line every day and we really appreciate everything they do.”

More than 30 members of Vanderbilt University’s police force met with the team Thursday afternoon before having dinner and walking to practice with the Commodores as a sign of solidarity and appreciation between the two entities.
