At the end of the day, Vanderbilt’s 49-10 overall record and 23-7 SEC record, paired with an SEC Tournament title, were not enough to pry the #1 national seed from UCLA.
Instead, the Commodores got the #2 national seed and will host the Nashville Regional this weekend. The three other teams in the regional are Indiana State, McNeese, and Ohio State.
Indiana State — which lost 7-1 to Vanderbilt at the Hawk back on April 16 — is the 2-seed in the regional. The Sycamores went 41-16 overall and 13-8 in the MVC, whose automatic bid they won on Saturday.
