Vanderbilt and Hawaii have agreed to a home-and-home series for the 2022 and 2023 seasons, Hawaii announced this week.
The Rainbow Warriors will host the first game on Aug. 27, 2022; the second game will be played at Vanderbilt on Sept. 30, 2023.
The first game will be a “week zero” game – a game that is played on the Saturday before Labor Day – which is now allowed under NCAA rules for Hawaii and its opponents. Previously, the Thursday before Labor Day was the earliest FBS teams could play without special approval from the NCAA.
Vanderbilt and Hawaii have never played against each other, though the Rainbow Warriors have played 13 games against nine of the 14 current SEC schools in their program history.
