On the heels of his first bowl appearance as Vanderbilt’s coach, Derek Mason has signed a three-year contract extension, through the 2021 season.

Vandy AD David Williams told The Tennessean of Nashville that Mason is getting a raise and so are his assistants. In addition, Williams said Mason’s recruiting budget will grow.

Williams did not specify the new salary, but did acknowledge a raise. The Tennessee reported that Mason’s base salary was about $2.5 million in 2015, which are the most recently available tax records. Vandy is a private school and does not have to make public its coaches’ salaries.
