The players, Ian Anderson and Braxton Garrett, are the top recruits for the Commodores, but could be headed to the pros and bypass college ball. Both of them, pitchers, had committed in 2014.
The Atlanta Braves picked Anderson with the third overall pick, while the Miami Marlins made Garrett their first round pick at number seven.
If they decide to sign with their respective MLB teams, it could affect Vanderbilt’s 2016 class ranking. The Commodores have brought in the top recruiting class in years before, including in 2005, 2011, 2012 and 2015.
ESPN’s Keith Law ranked the two pitchers as top 10 prospects and projected them to go in the first round.
