Really, Vanderbilt did manage to keep things interesting for a half before Georgia Tech poured it on in the second half. And there’s at least some positive in a 51.5% passing success rate; oddly, it was the Vanderbilt running game that wasn’t working. Georgia Tech’s passing success rate of 27.8% is mitigated by exactly how successful those five “successful” pass plays were: they went for 81, 10, 16, 17, and 77 yards. The three in the middle all came on second or third-and-long situations, meaning Vanderbilt’s defense couldn’t get off the field when they needed to.
