The Los Angeles Dodges Select Jordan Sheffield With the 36th Pick of the 2016 MLB Draft

Vanderbilt's Friday starter finished 2016 on a low note, but that didn't stop the Dodgers from drafting him on Thursday night.

Jordan Sheffield's Major League Baseball dream has come true. Three years after an elbow injury kept him from being a first-day selection in the MLB Draft, the Los Angeles Dodgers selected the Vanderbilt ace 36th overall on Thursday night.

Sheffield was the third pick of the draft's second round. He was the top #VandyBoy chosen, but broke a program streak of two straight years with a first round selection by sliding into the mid-30s.

The dominant righty underwent Tommy John surgery in 2013, and that injury kept him from making the jump to the minors straight out of high school like his brother.
