With the release of the latest AP poll on Monday, it is now official. On Wednesday night, Vanderbilt will play the #1 team in the country for the 27th time in school history.
Amazingly, Tennessee has now been ranked #1 twice in its history, and both times the Vols’ first game as #1 came at Memorial Gym. Shan Foster and Vanderbilt notched a 72-69 win over the Vols in 2008, one of eight wins over #1 in school history. Vanderbilt has played #1 at Memorial Gym on 12 occasions and is 6-6 in those games.
