Elliott Fry picked a pivotal moment to set a new personal best.
With 35 seconds remaining in regulation against Vanderbilt on Thursday, the South Carolina senior kicker nailed a career-long 55-yard field goal to help give the Gamecocks a 13-10 season-opening win.
Prior to Thursday night, Fry’s career long was a 52-yarder set last season against UCF. He also made a 51-yard field goal against Georgia in 2015.
Against Vanderbilt, Fry also made a 48-yard field goal with 6:16 left in the third quarter to cut the Commodores’ lead to 10-3.
