Former Vanderbilt football player sentenced to 15 years in prison

Batey, along with three other former players, was charged with aggravated rape in connection with a 2013 incident.

Former Vanderbilt football player Cory Batey was sentenced to 15 years in prison for aggravated rape by a Davidson County judge on Friday.

Batey, along with three other former Vanderbilt players (Brandon Vandenburg, Brandon Banks, and Tip McKenzie), was alleged to have raped an unconscious female student in a Vanderbilt dorm room on June 23, 2013. Batey was convicted in April 2016, after a January 2015 conviction was nullified when the judge declared a mistrial.

Vandenburg (who, like Batey, had an initial conviction thrown out) has already been convicted and is awaiting sentencing.
