Derek Mason’s bowl game prize? A bowling ball, of course

Related Topics: Derek Mason, Nashville Predators

What happens when you’re the football coach at Vanderbilt and you win six games? If you’re Derek Mason, you go bowling, in more ways than one.

Mason got a surprise while attending a game with the hometown NHL team, the Nashville Predators, against the St. Louis Blues. In honor of the Commodores’ coming trip to the Independence Bowl, Mason received… a bowling ball, courtesy of Predators team mascot Gnash.

(For those wondering, Gnash is described as a prehistoric saber-toothed tiger, a bit different from the Auburn, LSU and Missouri varieties that inhabit the SEC.)

It’s not certain exactly what Mason did with the bowling ball, which might have been a little too close to Volunteers orange for Vanderbilt tastes.
