A Twitter post from Derek Mason, showing Vanderbilt’s coach next to someone doing a “Gator Chomp,” isn’t exactly what Commodores fans expected to see. But there’s a reasonable explanation.
Mason posted the image with daughter Makenzie, who has committed to play lacrosse at the University of Florida.
Daughter and father are pictured together and, yes, she is indeed making a “Gator Chomp” sign.
Although Makenzie Mason originally announced her commitment to the Gators’ lacrosse program in October 2015, the move only became official with signing day earlier this week.
The Florida women’s lacrosse program is among the nation’s most distinguished, reaching six consecutive NCAA tournaments and finishing with an 18-2 record last year.
