Commodores blanked by Gamecocks 4-0

Gamecock starting pitcher Braden Webb pitched a gem, going eight innings while only allowing two hits and fanning 11 batters. Vanderbilt just couldn’t muster any offense against the freshman phenom. Head coach Tim Corbin praised Webb’s performance, and was surprised at his ability at his age.

“He definitely didn’t look like a freshman to me,” Corbin said. “That was crazy. I was sitting over there thinking that there’s a lot of good pitchers in the league, and he’s one of them, that’s for sure.”

Corbin also thought that Webb’s unique delivery style deceived the Commodore hitters, especially with the powerful fastball.
