With the July evaluation period coming up, Bryce Drew and staff may be trying to get a big man in their pocket. Plus a couple of 2018 guards.
Under NCAA rules, the month of June (and the first few days of July) are what's known as a "quiet" period. This means, essentially, that coaches aren't allowed to recruit or evaluate prospects off-campus, though they can still call, email, or send letters to prospects, and prospects are allowed to visit campus. This differs from an "evaluation period" (which includes three weekends in July) in which coaches are still not allowed to have face-to-face contact with recruits off campus, though they are allowed off-campus to evaluate prospects; and a "dead period," in which prospects aren't even allowed to visit campus (if they do, the coaches can't have any contact with them.
