“The first moment after I won, it was relief,” Sharma said about the seconds after securing match point. “Then I just couldn’t believe it happened and the enormity of the situation was so unreal. I didn’t think that I would ever be in that situation.”
It wasn’t the first time that Sharma had clinched a match during the NCAA Tournament. It wasn’t the second either. That defining victory over UCLA marked the third straight match she had clinched for the Commodores. She surely never suspected that one day she would clinch the match winning point for the NCAA championship, let alone eight total clinching matches over the course of the season.
