Adam Butler’s strength inside will make him a bargain pickup for the Patriots

Adam Butler started his career as an offensive lineman. It wasn’t until James Franklin flipped him back to the defensive side of the ball that he unlocked his true potential as a pocket-collapsing force in the trenches.

Butler moved all around the defensive line in his four seasons as a starter, ranging from 4-3 defensive end to 3-4 nose tackle. Each year, he found a way to make his presence felt, whether that meant chasing down quarterbacks, sealing up holes on running plays, getting a long arm up to block kicks, or consoling forlorn UMass kickers.
