The inaugural early signing period ended Friday, and the vast majority of the truly elite recruits – the five-star prospects – already have made their college choice.
There are 28 five-star prospects nationally, and 22 have signed. Five schools signed multiple five-star players, led by six at Georgia. Clemson signed four, Penn State signed three and Ohio State and USC each reeled in two.
The conference breakdown: eight to the SEC, six to the ACC, five to the Big Ten, two to the Pac-12 and one to the Big 12.
There are 14 five-star prospects in the SEC geographic “footprint,” and 11 have signed.
