The three Vanderbilt players involved in a shooting outside a Nashville-area Target store have been suspended indefinitely, the school announced Wednesday.
“Vanderbilt Football Coach Derek Mason has indefinitely suspended the three student-athletes reportedly involved in the June 26 shooting incident at a Nashville Target from all football activities,” the statement read.
The three are sophomore wide receiver Donaven Tennyson, redshirt freshman cornerback Frank Coppet and freshman safety Tae Daley. Police say the three were trying to recover a cell phone that allegedly was stolen from Tennyson; two of the players were shot when trying to recover the phone later in the day.
