1. Reynolds’ resurgence
Bryan Reynolds rebounded from a 1-for-9 opening series against San Diego to go 11-for-20 in five games this past week, including seven hits in 12 at-bats vs. UIC. Reynolds homered on Friday and Saturday, once from each side of the plate, and started Sunday’s game with a two-run double, setting the tone for an early 14-0 lead.
2. Sheffield stays hot
Jordan Sheffield started on Friday night for the second weekend in a row and turned in his best outing as a college pitcher en route to a 9-0 win. Sheffield pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing just five hits and a walk while striking out 11.
