Today the Vancouver Whitecaps announced the signing of New Zealand U-20 striker Myer Bevan to WFC2, pending receipt of his Canadian work permit. He is expected to join the team following the completion of the U-20 World Cup which takes place in South Korea this summer. Bevan joins fellow kiwis Francis De Vries and Declan Wynne. Bevan has previously played for semi pro outfit Auckland City FC (New Zealand’s only full time professional team, Wellington Phoenix, play in the Australian league) and for Nike Football Academy. Nike Football Academy is an interesting project which runs a revolving squad of unsigned U-20 players in order to help them find a professional club.
