It was a good day for Whitecaps FC 2.
Shortly after the club’s United Soccer League team defeated OKC Energy FC 3-2 in the Western Conference semifinals, WFC2 defender Deklan Wynne picked up an assist for the New Zealand senior men’s national team in a 2-1 loss to Mexico on Saturday in Nashville.

Wynne, who started the match and played 70 minutes, set up New Zealand’s only goal with a pinpoint cross from the left to level the score after LA Galaxy forward Giovani dos Santos opened the scoring for Mexico on a 29th-minute penalty.
