The 22-year-old started as the attacking midfielder in Paulo Bento’s 4-1-3-2 formation and recorded an assist on Korea’s opening goal scored by Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min. Hwang won the ball in midfield before starting the attacking phase of play with a forward pass to Hwang Ui-jo, who then played in Son.
