MONTEVIDEO, UR – Jordyn Huitema scored the winning goal for a second consecutive match as Canada defeated the Republic of Korea 2-0 at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Uruguay.
The result comes after a 3-0 win over Colombia in their opening match. Barring Colombia overturning an eight goal difference over their final two matches, Canada have booked their place in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
Huitema, captain of the team, was one of three players to play in the match from the Whitecaps FC Girls Elite REX program, in partnership with BC Soccer.
