Huitema makes World Cup debut, Canada to face Sweden in Round of 16

Canada will face Sweden in the Round of 16 at the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup after finishing second in Group E, following a 2-1 defeat against the Netherlands on Thursday.

18-year-old Jordyn Huitema, a product of the Whitecaps FC BMO Academy System and REX program in partnership with BC Soccer, earned the start to make her World Cup debut.

After a scoreless first half that saw Canada generate several promising attacks, the Dutch struck first with a goal on 54 minutes.

A goal for #NED put them up 1-0 over Canada.
