Canada Soccer announced on Tuesday that five players from the Whitecaps FC Girls Elite REX program in partnership with BC Soccer have been selected for a U-17 development camp from April 17 to 25 at Fortius in Burnaby, BC. The camp takes place ahead of the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup taking place in Uruguay next year.
Among the 'Caps called up are Stella Downing (pictured above), Abigail Schwartz, Maya Rogers, Caitlin Shaw, and Julia Kostecki. Also called up are several players from Whitecaps FC academy centre partners, including Oluwateniola (Teni) Akindoju and Sydney Kennedy from the Soccer Nova Scotia REX program; Isabella Hanisch from Ottawa South United; and Shanice Alfred-Toker, Andersen Williams, and Mya Jones from the Alberta South REX program.
