Despite the Vancouver Canucks finding new ways to infuriate me, at least I can always fall back on prospects. With their prospect camp wrapping up this week, I wanted to take a look at NHL equivalencies (NHLe). Basically, a special formula was created that helps adjust for various leagues around the world.
Using the NHL as the gold standard, Emmanuel Perry (founder and builder of Corscia.hockey) produced conversion factors for as many as 191 hockey leagues. We won’t need that many, but I figure it would be a good exercise as we talk about relative league strengths and development.
