The Vancouver Canucks currently have six defensemen locked up on one-way contracts. In addition, they have Ben Hutton, who is a lock for the NHL after an outstanding rookie season, and Russian Nikita Tryamkin, who has an out-clause that allows him to return home, if he doesn’t play in the NHL. But yet, the Canucks could consider adding Colorado Avalanche blue liner Tyson Barrie.
Barrie was part of daily trade rumors leading up to the 2016 NHL Draft, as he cannot seem to agree on contract terms with the Avalanche. However, Avs general manager Joe Sakic let everyone know they were keeping Barrie, and he was not going to be traded.
