The wait is finally over, and the Vancouver Canucks have certainty. As compensation for the hiring of ex-Canucks head coach John Tortorella in 2015, the Columbus Blue Jackets sent their 2017 second-round draft pick to the Canadian west coast.
For the Canucks, that’s terrific news, and the timing could not have been much better.
Considering the organisation is now officially in a transition period (or rebuild, if you will), accumulating a high number of draft picks is of utmost importance. Prior to receiving the compensation pick, however, the Canucks only owned six selections in this year’s draft.
